The 2014 Get Ready Queensland – Resilient Australia Awards celebrate and highlight the resilient nature of Queenslanders in the face of natural disasters and are jointly conducted by the Australian Federal Government and the State.

Winners will be announced in October and invited to represent Queensland at the national awards ceremony in Canberra later in the year.

Awards are open to all people, organisations and businesses throughout Queensland.

Categories include:

  • Not-for-profit sector [includes volunteer, youth and community groups and organisations]
  • Education and research sector [includes primary, secondary and tertiary education institutions and research organisations]
  • Private sector [includes individuals, small to medium enterprises, business and infrastructure providers]
  • Local government
  • State and territory government
  • Australian Government [This category is only judged at a national level]

Photograph that depicts what disaster resilience in Australia means to you. [Individual and Professional Photographer streams. Photographic entries will be shortlisted by a panel and then uploaded to the Australian Emergency Management Knowledge Hub for public voting.]

If a project/initiative has possible national significance, the application will not be judged at a state/territory level but forwarded for national judging under the special "Projects of national significance" category.

Important Dates:

Wednesday 2 April 2014: Applications open

Wednesday 2 July 2014 (midnight): Applications close

August – September: Queensland judging conducted

October 2014: Queensland awards ceremony held

December 2014: National presentation of national awards

In accordance with Section 277 (1) of the Local Government Regulation 2012, Barcoo Shire Council advises that it’s General Meeting scheduled to be held Wednesday 21 May, 2014 in Windorah has been postponed.

The General Meeting has been rescheduled to be held on Thursday 29 May 2014, Council Chambers, Jundah, commencing at 8:00 am.

Due to the public holidays on the 18th  & 25th  April (both Fridays) the normal rubbish run for these towns will have to be done on the Thursday on both of these weeks (17th  & 24th April)

Windorah

Windorah residents are advised that their standard rubbish run every Thursday will not be affected.

Barcoo Shire Council

NOTICE TO RATEPAYERS

 

All property owners in the Shire of Barcoo are advised that Rate Notices for the current half year were issued on Friday 14th March 2014.

Notices have been issued to the last advised address on Council records and it is the responsibility of the owner to advise of any change of address in writing.

If any owner does not receive their Rate Notice could they contact the Council Office, 6 Perkins Street, Jundah on 07 46586900 as soon as possible.

Payment is required within the specified discount period. Under no circumstances will discount be allowed on payments received after the final date for discount shown on the Rate Notice, namely 4.45pm on Tuesday 13th May 2014.
